Attended 2014 ok
Position on diverting taxpayer $$ towards paying for abortions at Morgentaler's private "clinic"
In 2014, the Liberal Party Leader in NB came out against the long-standing ban on public funding for private abortion facilities. For decades, all 3 major parties have agreed that the province shall not fund abortions at private abortion 'clinics'. Only abortions committed at hospitals are publicly funded. After an organized campaign to fund the Morgentaler abortuary, the Liberal Leader came out strongly in favour of fully-funded, abortion-on-demand.
Opposes ok
Position on cancelling the provincial requirement that 2 doctors sign off on the abortion as 'medically necessary' before it gets funded by taxpayers.
This is the current, decades old policy of the New Brunswick government. It was agreed upon by all major parties until 2014 when the Liberal Leader suggested this modicum of restriction needs to be removed, in the name of 'a woman's right to choose'.
Opposes ok
Life & family issues voting score: 100%

Here are quotes from CARL KILLEN on various life and family issues:

Affirmed his pro-life values in response to CLC's 2014 election questionnaire:  "I am pro-life… my position is clear; my party's position is clear…I have no intention in any way of liberalizing abortion access in New Brunswick" [Response to CLC by phone, Sep. 12, 2014]

Here are the answers for the questionnaire as provided by CARL KILLEN on 2014.

Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? Awaiting response
Are there any circumstances under which you believe a woman should have access to abortion? Will you uphold the current law of not funding abortion in private facilities? Yes
Will you support measures to stop funding abortions with taxpayers money in all New Brunswick hospitals? Awaiting response
Do you agree women have the right to be thoroughly informed about the serious health consequences of abortion, the development of the child in the womb and the alternatives to abortion? Awaiting response
Will you protect the rights of parents to educate their children according to their faith in matters of moral principles and beliefs concerning abortion, contraception and homosexuality? Awaiting response
Will you oppose euthanasia and instead support measures to promote 'palliative care', the purpose of which is to alleviate pain, and enhance the quality of life for terminally ill patients and those with disabilities? (Note: Euthanasia is the direct and intentional killing of a person by action or omission, with or without that person's consent, for what people mistakenly believe are compassionate reasons.) Awaiting response
