Pro-life: a cause I had always kept in my heart, but never on my lips – that is until my summer internship at Campaign Life Coalition began. My increased desire to be active in the pro-life movement should undoubtedly be attributed to my friends. Seeing their passion and poise inspired me to be involved in the pro-life movement too.

While doing pro-life activism on the streets of downtown Toronto it can be very easy to lose hope when faced with the apathy and indifference people have when they are confronted with the gruesome reality of abortion. Some passersby will even stop to say that the work we are doing is useless and that the pro-life movement is futile as there are no legal restrictions on abortion in Canada and the laws will never change. Some may wonder why us pro-lifers still stand on the street and engage the culture on abortion in the midst of insults, colourful language, threats, and sometimes physical violence that is inflicted on us by those with opposing opinions. Advocating for the rights of the pre-born humans in many cases costs us our comfort, but the lives of those babies are worth more than my comfort.

I was recently given the honour of interviewing Uju. I asked for her opinions on some of the recent developments in regards to the culturally imperialistic message that the western world is trying to spread throughout the developing countries of Africa in regard to abortion and birth control. I also asked her what young Canadians can learn from African culture, as well as what steps we should take to ensure that countries that have a pro-life culture are safe from the western world’s anti-life ideology.

The Unexpected March
The Unexpected March

I always believed that the March for Life was a misnomer. The Stroll for Life seemed more appropriate. This cockiness set me up quite well for some well-deserved divine justice. The March for Life 2016 wasn't a stroll or a march. It was closer to a trudge.

Did snow stop the pro-lifers from marching? Not one bit. Thousands and thousands of Americans from high schools, universities, organizations and even religious congregations across the nation marched for the protection of the pre-born children in the womb
